Dear Connell High School Students and Parents,

\r\n

As all of you know by now, schools statewide have been shut down. This is information from Mr. Jacobs’ letter late Friday afternoon: Following the executive order issued by the Governor of the State of Washington, the North Franklin School District will close all schools from Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, April 24. This closure includes the cancellation of all out-of-district transportation, events, athletic practices, field trips, competitions and any other events in North Franklin School District facilities.

\r\n

The office at Connell High School will be open Tuesday this week (March 17) from 8 am – 4 pm. This will allow students to get any personal belongings they may need. Additionally we will try to answer any questions that you have through email or returning phone calls. Our goal is to reduce the negative impacts to students and families as much as possible.

\r\n

The Connell High School staff will do all they can to continue to help our students. One expectation is that they help students with make-up work or give extra credit work and reach out using a wide variety of platforms……….email, Google Classroom are some that have been discussed. New curriculum will not be taught during this time, except for those students who are enrolled in College in the Classroom courses. Lack of internet access may limit access to some of our students and we are working as a school and district to see what can be done to help out.

\r\n

In the coming days, our admin team will be at work and focused on implementing and adjusting these plans. We will share updates about these items through Facebook, our website, and other social media channels as we revise and implement the details of our plans.

\r\n

I think it is important to let you know that we may be asked by the state or the health department to extend the closure period. If this occurs, we will communicate to families as soon as possible to allow time to prepare

\r\n

We recognize that this extended closure creates significant challenges for many of our families and community. Our schools allow workers to provide for their families and serve the community, knowing that their children are receiving a high quality education while being well cared for at school. Many students receive nutritious meals from their school and also receive the social-emotional supports they need.

\r\n

Thank you for your ongoing partnership as we work together to continue to care for our students, staff, and families during these difficult times. We will get through this, and we will do it by taking care of each other, treating each other with kindness and compassion, and holding together as a community.

\r\n

On the back of this letter you will find contact information for several staff members that can help out during this time.

\r\n

Sincerely,

\r\n

am a 4 pm.
incluyendo correo electrónico y salones virtuales llamados Google classroom.
Colegio llamados College in the Classroom.
