Good afternoon NFSD Neighborhood!

We're almost done with 3 weeks of school closure because of the COVID19 response. Last night the Governor extended the "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order through May 4th and superintendents from across the state are patiently awaiting further guidance from OSPI on what that means for our schools. We are hoping to receive more information on Monday, April 6th and will of course pass that on as soon as we know more.

Today we want to thank everyone again for their patience, grace, understanding and spirit as we work TOGETHER in our awesome community to fight through this crazy time. Our students, parents, teachers, educational support professionals and administrators have all had to adopt new strategies and actions to keep our educational system moving ahead while keeping our community safe. Everyone in this situation has been affected in some way, has had to step into an unfamiliar role, and shouldered part of the burden and we are grateful not only for the fact that you have done it, but we are also grateful for the incredible attitude you have displayed while you were doing it!

Spring Break "officially" kicks off as of now, despite the fact that it has already been almost three weeks since students have filled our hallways. Because we are aware that many vacations have been cancelled, many students have already taken a week or two off, and many students, parents, and teachers are itching to resume learning in some way, despite the obstacles, we wanted to make sure everyone felt supported in making the best decision for their situation.

Teachers and students are free to continue working together and communicating through the break but there is no requirement to do so. If you haven't connected with your teacher or haven't done any classwork since March 16th, we think it would be a good idea to do so in the coming week. We also think it is critical that everyone make time to recharge if you haven't done so already, even if that means doing so at home instead of through a planned Spring Break trip.

Our free sack breakfast/lunch meals for children aged 18 and under will continue through all of Spring Break, with meals available to pick up at Basin City Elementary, Mesa Elementary and Connell Elementary from 11:00 to 11:30 am on weekdays.

Stay home and stay safe, everyone!

\r\nBuenas tardes Barrio NFSD!
